Linkloft Privacy Policy

Linkloft is a local-first Android app for saving and organising links, files, notes, collections and tags. This policy explains what the app stores, what leaves your device, and what it does not do.

In short: Linkloft has no account, no cloud sync, and no analytics. Your library is stored on your device. Almost every network request the app makes goes to a website you yourself chose to save; the single exception is looking for a picture of a saved place, which asks OpenStreetMap and Wikidata about that place by name and can be switched off.

What the app stores on your device

Everything you save is kept in the app's private storage on your Android device. This includes:

• Titles, web addresses, and references to local files you pick.
• Notes, collections, tags, and favourite/viewed/archived state.
• Timestamps such as when an item was added or last opened.
• File type and size for documents you reference.
• Preview information fetched for a link, such as its page title, description, icon, and thumbnail address.

When you add a local file, Linkloft stores a reference to that file (an Android content:// address), not a copy of it. The app reads the file only when you open it or when it generates a preview, such as the first page of a PDF.

Network use

Linkloft does not require an account and does not synchronise your data anywhere. It makes network requests in only these situations:

• When you add or share a web link, the app contacts that link's own website (or that provider's public preview endpoint, such as YouTube's or TikTok's) to fetch a preview: the page title and a thumbnail or icon. That website receives a request from your device in the same way it would if you opened the page in your browser.
• When you ask to refresh a preview from a link's details.
• When a picture is looked for for a saved place. This is the only request Linkloft makes to a service other than the page you saved. The app first follows the map link to find which place it is, then asks OpenStreetMap and Wikidata whether they hold a photograph of it or the logo of the chain it belongs to, and may then fetch a picture from that place's own website or from Wikimedia Commons. Only the place's name is sent. Nothing about you, your library, or your other links is included. This happens when you save a place, or when you ask for it from a place's menu or from Settings, and it can be switched off entirely under Settings › Pictures for saved places. It never runs over your library on its own.

Links brought in through a file import are not fetched until you ask. Email links are never fetched. No request is ever sent to the developer, and Linkloft contains no analytics, advertising, tracking, or crash-reporting SDK.

Preview pictures that have already been shown are kept in the app's cache folder on your device so they need not be fetched again each time. Android may clear that folder whenever it needs the space, the pictures are never part of an export or a backup, and they are removed with the app.

What is not collected

• The developer does not receive, store, or have any access to your saved library, your files, or your usage of the app.
• There is no user account, sign-in, or personal profile.
• No data is sold or shared with third parties.
• No advertising identifiers are read or used.

Exports and backups

You can export your library or back it up to a folder you choose. Those files may contain your saved addresses, notes, tags, and other library data. Once exported, the file is under your control and this policy no longer governs it: you are responsible for storing or sharing it safely.

Opening links and files

When you open a saved item, Linkloft hands it to another app on your device (a browser, a PDF viewer, a media app). Those apps and websites process data according to their own privacy policies.

Deleting your data

• Delete individual items in the app, or several at once with Select.
• Remove all app data by clearing the app's storage in Android Settings, or by uninstalling Linkloft.
• Files you exported or backed up stay wherever you saved them and must be deleted by you.

Because your library never leaves your device, there is no server-side copy for the developer to delete.

Children

Linkloft is a general-purpose productivity tool intended for adults. It is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If the app's behaviour changes in a way that affects this policy, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised.
